Providing a healthy and safe environment for retired Sisters is of paramount importance to the congregation. As our Sisters age and approach a time of frailty, fulfilling that responsibility requires ever increasing attention to care, the investment of available resources and the maintenance of a cheerful and comfortable place to live.
Assisi Hall, established in 1995, is the home for our retired and infirm Sisters. The philosophy of the residence is to provide service that is flexible, individualized and that maximizes the Sisters’ independence, privacy and dignity.
Today, you will find approximately 40 of our elderly and infirm Sisters at Assisi Hall. Their primary ministry is that of prayer and support for the works of the USA Province.
Although it is a sanctuary to those whose physical lives have diminished, Assisi Hall is an energetic place, home to women who still have great zest for the Gospel. It is house of prayer, and it reveals the most wonderful opportunity for interdependence.
Throughout their lives, all of these Sisters have lived and served together as Franciscans, sharing a lifestyle characterized by communal meals, recreation, prayer and spiritual practices. It is no surprise our Sisters desire in their final years a residence that supports their Franciscan culture, religious beliefs and communal, spiritually based life.
